Elie Wiesel was a survivor from the Holocaust during World War II. He wrote an autobiographical novel about his life during his time in the concentration camp in Auschwitz. Night was published in English in 1960, five years after the french version La Nuit. Night has sold more than six million copies, it has been translated into 30 languages, it was in Oprah's Book Club and it was number one in  New Yorks Times bestseller list for 18 months. Later came Dawn and Day, where he told the story from darkness to light, in Jewish tradition night marks the beginning of a new day.  Ellie has published over 40 other books relating to the Holocaust. He was a Humanities Professor at Boston University, in 1986 he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and  he started the Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity. He also helped to establish the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C.
